I don’t photograph people, though people find themselves within the places and times I photograph.
I photograph to explain - myself, the places I love and the animate and inanimate burdens that occupy them.
I photograph culture - regret, amusement, expectations, distress and the lethargy and levity of hearts.
I photograph tension - the relationships that pull us down, that keep us afloat in places that we cannot navigate.
I photograph the smell of the sea, the twinkle of a fire and the sound of inflating a balloon.
I don’t photograph people.
